Maison Tramier Pinot Noir 2020
Reviewed on October 8, 2021
Talking turkey wine today, or more specifically wine to pair with Turkey. I've selected a wine that I think is a "ringer" for Thanksgiving Dinner - Tramier Pinot Noir 2020. Tramier is a "vin de France" which gives the winemakers a lot of latitude - they are allowed to blend grapes from different regions in France or blend non-traditional grape varietals. In this case, it is 100% Pinot Noir grown in Burgundy in the north and Languedoc-Roussillon in the south.
It is a light ruby red colour. On the nose, there is lots going on in this glass -
strawberry, red cherry, lavender and a hint of raspberry leaf. The longer it sits in the glass, the more it is opening up. It is light in body but full of flavour! Tastes real and not manipulated. Lots of cherry and strawberry, there is a touch of herbal that Iād describe as tobacco leaf. The tannins are soft as expected and the acidity is lively.
